Updating...

I am in the process of updating the pages above! Check out the new and improved "about lily" and "recent pictures"!!

Good moment of the day... That awkward moment when you realize that two different Christie Cookie employees on two different occasions have asked you if you work in the mall... Maybe I am there buying cookies for Dad too much?

Every time I go shopping for cards, I get closer and closer to starting my OWN line of cards. Something that gets the message across without being Sappy Street in Cheeseville. "When my heart was broken, you were there for me." Really? What kind of happy birthday is that? And why is it that we can find 4 cards for your niece's birthday, 2 cards for "I'm sorry your dog died", 15 Justin Bieber cards (which totally rock), tacky number birthday cards... but we can't find a decent card that says "Happy Birthday, Mom! I love you!" or "Happy Father's Day, Dad! You are the best!" What is this world coming to?!

Me to a store employee: "Each time I go card shopping I seriously get closer and closer to starting my own line of cards." Lady: "Are you a graphic designer?" Me: "Ummm no. I am not at all artistic, actually..."

Update

Hey friends!

18! Crazy town! What a fun birthday it was! Sweet Brenda had the Gators each bring me a flower and a card- so precious! I got to the pool and everyone sang! Love my kids!!

This past weekend was city meet! Our Gators did GREAT! It was a CRAZY meet- clerk of course was moved into the bathrooms at Centennial Sportsplex (what?!). It was insanity! I helped work clerk of course- getting kids onto the bulkhead to swim! It was super fun- I was able to talk with my kids before they swam but also help with clerk of course! I would ask all the kids the same questions I ask my kids- "How many hands on butterfly? How many hands on breaststroke? What do we not do on backstroke? What's the order of the IM?" I did clerk of course with 6&unders and 7&8s! Julia ran the 6&under boys clerk of course- she was AMAZING! She had all those kids paying attention! And 3,4,5 and 6 year old boys are cute but crazy! With the 7&8s, I found that playing Simon Says was a great way to keep the attention of 7&8 boys while waiting to swim :) I will post more soon!

We WON CITY MEET FOR THE 2A DIVISION!! We won the 10&under meet and then won overall! And we were also the 2A dual meet champs!! So much fun!!

We are UNDEFEATED!! #winning

Pictures coming soon!! And I will tell about how some of our kids broke records, banquet, and more :)

Well, in 30 mins I will be sitting getting my wisdom teeth removed... Yuck... Not really looking forward to it! Prayers are appreciated :)

Much love and many blessings,

Lily

Tower of Babel vs. Pentecost

Pastor Stephen is doing a fabulous sermon series called "You Will Be My Witnesses." {Check out my church's website here and our Vimeo here!}

Today was on Acts 2:1-13 (see below).

During the sermon, I was thinking about a comparison between Pentecost and the Tower of Babel. God used language in two completely different ways in these two events. In the first, God used language to spread the people apart and to prevent them from further communication. But in Pentecost, God gave the gift of language to bring people together. The apostles were able to speak to thousands of people in each person's native language. Pastor Stephen made the point that the multitudes weren't given the gift of ears. The apostles were MIRACULOUSLY able to speak the languages of all the people there- and they were "telling them in [their] own tongues the mighty works of God." It was an absolute miracle to be immediately given the knowledge of a language! God is so cool.

It is so sad, though, that a bunch of people just claimed that they were drunk. It was probably so surreal that, instead of believing in Jesus, they just discounted it as totally crazy. What a cool thing that would have been to experience!

Check out Acts 2:1-13 below!

Blessings to you,

Lily

Acts 2:1-13
The Coming of the Holy Spirit
English Standard Version (ESV)
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, 11 both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” 12 And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” 13 But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.”

Life in Pictures

Hey friends!

Oops... I have not posted in a while! So thankful- city meet entries are DONE {for now :)} and IN! Very thankful for the super nice and patient people who helped get it done :) (you know who you are). I may or may not be slightly addicted to cherry coke zero and pandora now...

I hope everyone had a lovely 4th! Mine was spent at the pool, at a neighborhood picnic, meet entries, and Sweet Cece's. It was a great day!

Gator quote of the day... We have a 4 year old who once told one of our helpers that he had a magic password to make him swim. He told it to her, and she shared it with us. So, the other day when he wasn't swimming, I decided to try it out.

Me: "If I say your magic password, you need to swim."
4 year old: "Ok!"
Me: *pause to laugh first* "Dragon tales, dragon tales, dragon tales."
4 year old: "That's the wrong password."
Me: "What is the right one?"
4 year old: "Fire tales."
Me: "Ok. Fire tales, fire tales, fire tales. Now that I said it you have to swim!"

And what happened? He swam. Too funny! :)

Another Gator quote... Mom to 5 year old: "Ariel, Ursula is chasing you so you have to swim fast!"

This week we went to see Brave! It was weird. Not your typical Disney princess movie! There were several things that they forgot about I felt like... A tiara and a phrase. And the whole turning into bears thing? Very strange. I loved their accents though! And Merida's crazy hair!

So proud of my Gators- we are currently undefeated and first in our division by 161 points! Our most competitive meet is this Tuesday. Goooo Gators!!

One of the highlights of my week... Reliving my days of being a little kid and playing Capture the Flag and German Spotlight with some super fun kids! :) I was foolishly barefoot... When I cut my foot I was kind of in shock- I never get injured since I am so cautious! Oh well... :)

I love how God's Word is always applicable. And how the Lord uses specific verses to work through us. To be honest, this week has been kind of crazy and stressful. But today, I opened up my Bible app and what was the verse of the day?

2 Corinthians 12:9. "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

This was exactly what I needed to hear today. His grace is sufficient for me. His power is seen through my weakness.

Here are some recent pictures :)
