REFUND POLICY:
If you need to cancel your registration prior to the conference you will get a full refund to your credit card minus a $10 processing fee. But you must cancel at least three weeks prior to event date. If after attending the conference you are unsatisfied for any reason, your registration fees will be refunded in full (minus a $10 processing fee) with no questions asked.

Wednesday Love :: Very Belated

Hey friends!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend! Wow! I cannot believe the weather! It is glorious! I think it's in the 60s! It is craziness that we had snow this past week!

Yesterday was the regional meet! Makos got third overall! Whoo hoo! My cut for the 100 breaststroke was a 1:29:99. When I got the cut it was 1:28:?. I really wanted to swim under the cut! I was so excited when my time was a 1:27:99! I was at the pool from 10-5:45. A very long but good day! It was nice to chat with lots of fun friends :o)

This past Thursday was my last January swim lesson. The kids had to go to the deep end, which was a pretty big deal! Everyone did it and did a great job! I am so proud of my munchkins!

Wow- I have not posted my Wednesday Lovin for two weeks! Whoops!

The Rebelution Tour 2011

Many of you have emailed us to ask about locations for the 2011 conference tour. Well, the wait is over! Below is the official (tentative) list of dates and locations:

We think the 2011 conferences will be amazing. We’re excited to return to two cities where we had incredible conferences in past years, and we’re excited to bring the tour to five new cities — including Orlando and Philadelphia Central PA!

Of course, all of these dates and cities are subject to change. We’re hard at work to nail down details, sign contracts with facilities, and recruit local teams. If you’d like to help out, please email us at info [at] therebelution [dot] com.

Keep checking back over the next several weeks for confirmed dates and locations, as well as registration. We’ll update the website as soon as we have those details.

2011 and Beyond

Since the first conference in 2006, over 50,000 teens, parents, and youth workers have gathered to be inspired by a message and a movement that is so much bigger than any of us. This year marks our fifth annual tour — possibly the last.

This is not to say that the Rebelution is coming to an end. Doing conferences has been an incredible privilege for both of us. We’ve been able to work with rebelutionaries across the country, spread the “do hard things” message to thousands of our peers, and see God change hundreds and hundreds of lives.

But we always knew that the day would come when God would call us to step into new seasons and new challenges — continuing to “do hard things” and live out the message of the Rebelution by building on the foundation we laid in the teen years.

But the Rebelution isn’t over. At each of the conferences this year, we’re going take some time to talk about the future, for us and you. Whether you’re entering the teen years or leaving them behind, we hope you’ll join us as we strategize about the future of the movement — and the future of our generation.

2010 In Review

Wow- I cannot believe that tomorrow is the start of a new year! My how time flies!

(and just a little warning- this going to be a longgggg post ~:-)

This year has been crazy but good. God is faithful and has exceedingly blessed us this year!!

Some highlights/big things from this year:

~All three Scott girls were baptized and joined our church earlier this month! I am so thankful for that! Grandma came as well which meant so much! Some of my dear friends were also there for the baptism and for a blessing party! Thank you, friends!!

~being the publicity coordinator for the Nashville Do Hard Things conference! I got involved with bringing it to Nashville in July of 2009 and it came to Nashville August of 2010! It was so cool to see God working on our behalf for the conference. It was amazing to meet and work with new awesome people. I am so thankful for all of the people that helped bring the conference here! My friends were so supportive and helpful! Thank you all!!! It was a wonderful experience and I am so thankful I got to be the publicity coordinator!

~my second year at Whitver. I feel like I have connected more and I really love it!! My classes, teachers, and friends are fabulous. I also have a lighter workload compared to last year which has been really nice. I am so blessed and thankful.

~My family is so amazing!! They are supportive, loving, caring- all the good adjectives apply to them! :) I also feel like I have gotten closer to my parents this year. I have always really appreciated them but I feel like I have had a greater appreciation for them this past year. :)

~Our family trips: the Scott ladies went to see fam at the cabin in January. Our fam went with Nana and Papa to Knoxville in January to see our cousin get married! Dad and I went on a Lil and Dad trip to Memphis during my spring break! In June we went with two fun families from our church to Gatlinburg! In August we went to camp (see below). At the end of August we went to Miami for Mom's high school reunion! It was great to see a bunch of Mom's family!! On the way home we went to Disney!! (can I just live at Disney? It makes me happy :) In October we took Nana and Papa to Shaker Village! We had a great time!! Dad and I also went on a road trip to practice my driving over fall break down the Natchez! In July we celebrated July 4th with our friends the Dodds at the lake!

~In April, Hannah came to live with us! She started cosmetology school in August! We have really enjoyed having her here!!

We aren't crazy or anything... :o)

~Some of our dear friends, Nicole and Bryan, got married in May! Their wedding was so fun and Mom made the main wedding cake! They also had a photo booth at their wedding- SO COOL. (definitely something I want at my wedding :o)

~In April I got a group of Makos together to go to the MTHEA Teen Banquet! It was so much fun!!

~I have gotten more into photography this year! Dad and I helped a friend photograph a wedding in October, and I did the adorable Polly Jane's newborn pictures! (coming soon!)

~Allie and I threw a surprise party for our darling friend Lindsey's 18th birthday in July! I also helped throw a going away party for Allie!

~I turned a year older! :) My fabulous piano teacher, who is practically a family member (she is so wonderful- I hope you can meet her sometime!) threw a surprise party for me! I also went with some girlfriends to Chihuly at Cheekwood!

~We now have all teenagers! Craziness! Cara turned 13 in October!

~I finally got my permit! I drove the fam to Atlanta and most of the way back a few days ago! Hopefully I can get my license soon :)

~I have such wonderful friends! WOW I am so blessed!

~I was excited to make a regional cut this season and last for swim team! Here is a picture of me and Christina at regionals:

~It has been so much fun to play piano for church- such a privilege! It is awesome to get to play with the guys every week! And y'all- our church family is phenomenal! I am so thankful for them!

~Y'all, God is so faithful. I am so thankful for that promise! Words cannot describe. He is good.

~In August Julia and I worked kitchen staff, Mom taught cooking, and Cara was a camper. It was a very interesting experience. I am thankful for it though!

~The Nashville Flood was in May. We were very thankful to not be affected but we have many friends who were. It was so sad. It was so cool though to see Nashville pull together and help! FEMA said they had never seen a city pull together so well!

~I love swimming on the Makos!! Our team is superb and I love my Mako girlies!! :)

~In June my friend Allie came home from China! We missed her!

~Nashville has gotten some great snows!

So what is the Rebelution?

So, what is the Rebelution? Why do I wear a tshirt that says Do Hard Things? What is all this about me being the publicity captain for a conference? I mean, aren't I just 15? Isn't planning a conference for adults to do? And why would I want to do hard things? Why should I go out of my comfort zone?

The Rebelution is a movement. It is a teenage rebellion against low expectations. It is going against the common thinking that teenage years are just years to waste. Very often if a teenager is being a slacker or not doing what's right, people will say, "Oh, well they are just a teenager." I remember when I turned 13, Mom (jokingly) said, "So, are you going to start slamming doors?" ;) Most people think of teenagers as rebellious people- in an awkward stage between childhood and adulthood.

I HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest the book Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris. It is an awesome book, and very motivational! They are very soon publishing their follow-up book, Start Here, which we have already ordered! This second book is the application to their Do Hard Things book.

So what is the Rebelution?

Alex and Brett Harris, authors of the Do Hard Things book, put it in a great way!

The official definition of the 'rebelution' is "a teenage rebellion against low expectations." When you look around today, our culture does not expect much of us young people. We are not only expected to do very little that is wise or good, but we're expected to do the opposite. Our media-saturated youth culture is constantly reinforcing lower and lower standards and expectations.

The word 'rebelution' is a combination of the words "rebellion" and "revolution." So it carries a sense of an uprising against social norms. But in this case, it's not a rebellion against God-established authority, but against the low expectations of our society. It's a refusal to be defined by our ungodly, rebellious, and apathetic culture. Actually, we like to think of it asrebelling against rebellion.

And it's exciting, because the Rebelution has become a type of counter-cultural youth movement among young people from around the world, who are not only rejecting the lies of popular youth culture, but they're returning to biblical and historical levels of character and competence.

In 1 Timothy 4:12, the Apostle Paul tells Timothy, "Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." In other words, as young people we are called to be exemplary in all areas of life. Our generation is falling incredibly short of that calling. Instead of serving as the launching pad of life, the teen years are seen as a vacation from responsibility. We call it the "myth of adolescence." And the Rebelution is all about busting that myth.

Our battle cry is just three words, but it's an explosive concept: Do Hard Things. That's it. And "do hard things" is a mentality. It's a mentality that flies right in the face of low expectations. The world says, "You're young, have fun!" It tells us to "obey your thirst" and "just do it." Or it tells us, "You're great! You don't need to exert yourself." But those kinds of mindsets sabotage character and competence.

Do Hard Things is just the opposite. It's how we build character and competence. It won't drop to meet the low expectations, it won't just do what comes easily, and it won't become complacent. It applies no matter who you are or what level you're on, because there's always something harder to do, something that will take you outside your comfort zone and cause you to grow.

The Rebelution is made up of three fundamental parts. We've talked about character andcompetence. The third is collaboration. It's not enough for us to be individual exceptions. We have to create a counterculture. We do that is by networking and encouraging one another in our common cause. That's what the Rebelution has become. When you have a community of young people committed to doing hard things for the glory of God and the good of others, that's an incredibly powerful thing.

So about me, a 15 year old teenager, being the publicity captain: Going with their theme, DO HARD THINGS, this conference is for teenagers by teenagers! Here are some of the numbers from past conferences:

The Rebelution's Do Hard Things Tour came to seven major cities across the United States in 2008 -- Charlotte, Portland, Denver, Minneapolis, Dallas, Des Moines, and Washington, D.C. We're not about the numbers, but we love to share numbers that show God is working in our generation:

• 16,200 teens, parents, and youth workers reached in 2008, up from 4,200 in 2007.


• 14-year-olds worked with Convention Centers, 15-year-olds manned $50,000 robotic cameras, 16-year-olds managed grassroots publicity, 9-year-olds ran Audience Response Technology, etc. These were events for teens, by teens.


• 8,800 miles: The farthest distance traveled to attend. Represented were Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and 43 of the 50 states.


• 500 bold professions of faith in Jesus Christ with every head up and every eye open.


• 3,200 attendees at the final conference outside Washington, D.C.

Mom, Lily, Julia, and Jenny all went to a conference in June 2009- wow! It was amazing!
