Wednesday Love: Take Two: Media!

This week I have a couple things I would like to share! (check out the links for more info!)

Two Books

Do Hard Things, written by twin brothers Alex and Brett Harris!
This is SUCH an awesome book- so good I even was the publicity coordinator to bring the DHT conference to Nashville! Looking for a good gift for a preteen/teenager/college student? (I even know moms who have done Bible study groups using this book!) It is an awesome book challenging its readers to DO HARD THINGS, and step out of our comfort zones to do what God has called us to do. It is very inspiring and my whole family has enjoyed it! Check out these websites for more info! Overview, Endorsements, List of places to buy the book. I highly recommend it!

I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris (Alex and Brett's older brother)
I LOVED this book! After reading this I made the personal decision to not date, but instead follow Joshua's guideline of courtship. Wonder what courtship is and why people decide not to date? Check out this wonderful book! Several websites: Josh's page about the book, buy it on Amazon, buy it on CBD. I have had the privilege of meeting Alex, Brett, and Josh! It was amazing to hear them speak at the Nashville DHT conference!!

A Songbook

Pride and Prejudice- music from the motion picture songbook

I LOVE the music in the newer Pride and Prejudice. And I love playing it! This sheet music book is awesome! From: Amazon, SheetMusicPlus.

my new favorite hymn.

As the three Scott girls approach being baptized in a few weeks (!!!), I wanted to share this song. I LOVE Keith and Kristyn Getty's music! We sing their songs all of the time but I recently bought several of their songs on iTunes :o)

I LOVE this hymn and was super excited you can get the sheet music for free!

Here is a video of Stuart Townend singing it.

You can hear a sample of the version I have (Kristyn Getty singing) here.

Behold the Lamb who bears our sins away, Slain for us
and we remember the promise made
that all who come in faith find forgiveness at the cross

So we share in this bread of life,
and we drink of His sacrifice
as a sign of our bonds of peace
around the table of the king

The body of our savior Jesus Christ, torn for you
eat and remember; The wounds that heal,
the death that brings us life paid the price to make us one.

So we share in this bread of life,
and we drink of His sacrifice
as a sign of our bonds of love
around the table of the king

The blood that cleanses every stain of sin, shed for you
Drink and remember He drained death’s cup
That all may enter in to receive the life of God.

So we share in this bread of life,
and we drink of His sacrifice
as a sign of our bonds of grace
around the table of the king

And so with thankfulness and faith we rise to respond
And to remember our call to follow
in the steps of Christ As His body here on earth

As we share in His suffering,
We proclaim Christ will come again
And we’ll join in the feast of heaven
Around the table of the King

From the Gettymusic.com

The Communion Hymn is exactly what it says it is -a hymn to be used during the communion part of a service – the opening verse sets the context, preparing us for communion with verse 2 focussing on the bread and verse 3 the wine while verse 4 being the response as we leave.

We took several key themes – we wanted to explain simply what each part of communion is about and so use it as a teaching song, explaining the meaning of the elements. We also wanted to write in a way which appealed to the senses ‘ the visual image of the table of the King, ‘drained deaths cup’ . It also brings in the eternal dimension which we try to do in all of our hymns – where we tei the cup to the theme of judgement and the fact that it is part of our communion experience is to remember his return.”
